PHS To Celebrate 'Night In Rio' Homecoming

Perkins High School will celebrate “A Night In Rio” as its 2025 Homecoming theme, and host a series of festivities Monday, September 15, through Saturday, September 20.

On Wednesday, Perkins Schools will host a district-wide parade that will begin at 6:15 p.m. At the conclusion of the parade, PHS will host its annual Powder Puff Football game between the junior and senior girls at Firelands Health Stadium. After the Powder Puff game, there will be a bonfire on the practice field outside the stadium.

The parade route will be different this year. The parade starts at Briar, heads east on Briar Drive, then north on Matthes Avenue, and west on Marshall Avenue, and turns south on Campbell Street, and ends at the south parking lot of Perkins High School. Floats will line up behind Briar no later than 5:45 p.m.

A building at the Erie County Fairgrounds will be available Monday, September 15, and Tuesday, September 16, for float decorating.

All students, families, and the public are invited to the parade, Powder Puff game, and the bonfire. 

The parade is scheduled for Wednesday to alleviate parking congestion at the high school due to construction in the field on the north end of the building. Attendees of the Wednesday night activities can park in the lots around PHS, but should avoid the Briar lots because of the parade.

PHS will host its coronation ceremony on Thursday, September 18. 

The homecoming court will also be introduced to the community during the pregame show of the football game against Bellevue on Friday. Kickoff for the game is at 7 p.m. Parking for the game will be at the lots at Briar and PHS.

A homecoming dance for PHS students will be on Saturday.
